About Heather

Hi and welcome!

I’m passionate about helping people and organizations learn and grow. I created this blog to share my experiences and thoughts on leadership and productivity.

I write when I’m inspired to share something especially interesting or meaningful, which means I might post every few weeks or every few months. I invite you to sign up for updates if you want to find out when I share new posts and stay in touch.

I currently work as director of business development in learning innovation for a global nonprofit. I lead a team that helps companies develop professional development programs for their staff.

In 2017, I completed a two-year term as a leadership scholar with the American Society of Association Executives based in Washington, D.C., through its Diversity Executive Leadership Program. In 2018, I’m honored to serve as a Board Member for the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce.

After studying journalism in college and working at a 24-hour news station in Tampa, Florida, I started my career as an account executive for a marketing agency and traveled the U.S., working on campaigns for an international client.

I’ve also served as communications director for a statewide non-profit and as director of operations for a fast-growing clean energy start-up company. I earned my MBA, with a focus on technology entrepreneurship, from North Carolina State University.

I’ve traveled and hiked around the world and believe experiencing diverse cultures, customs and landscapes is vital for personal growth. I live in Durham, North Carolina, with my wife and our dog Vinny.
